For 25 years he is Chairman Dept. of Medicine and Allied Sciences and Ex. Dean of Faculty of Eastern Medicine Hamdard University and Member National Council for Tibb Islamabad He is the editor/publisher of JOURNAL OF EASTERN MEDICINE, For 28 years he has been teaching the course “Herbs and Phytomedicines in Today’s Medicine.” Asif Iqbal is the senior editor of the Pakistan National Pharmacopeia and chairman of National Pharmacopeia committee of The MINISTRY OF NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES REGULATIONS AND COORDINATION.

In 2009 he was awarded the Prof. Dr. Server Jahan Zubairy Gold Medal by Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology In 215 he was awarded the Gold Medal by Govt. of Sindh Pakistan on his research on Hepatitis C In 2012 he was awarded the Gold Medal by Shifa-ul-Mulk Academy on his Ph.D.
